Oven cleaning can be really boring and hard sometimes. Too many burned food deposits can be difficult to take off, they can cause lots of smoke when using the oven so it is recommended to clean the oven once a week if you use it often. Most conventional cleaning products contain toxic chemicals that are harmful to your health and can leave a bad odor in your oven, sometimes even making your food smell like a cleaning product. They usually contain very corrosive ingredients and that is the reason why they are so effective, but it can be harmful to your skin, eyes and even fatal if swallowed, so another thing to have in mind if you use conventional products is to always store it on high shelves to keep them away from children. Here are 4 natural ingredients that you can use for making your oven sparkling, pristine and odor free, these ecological and biodegradable ingredients that we all have at home are: vinegar, baking soda, lemon, and salt.
Vinegar
Vinegar has disinfectant and degreasing power. Heat the water in a saucepan and add a cup of vinegar. When the water starts to boil, put the saucepan carefully in a preheated oven at 100 °C (212 °F) and leave it for 10 minutes. Pull the pan out and let it cool. Spray the oven with the mixture of water and vinegar and leave it for another 10 minutes, then clean the oven with a rough sponge, being careful not to scratch the oven walls.
Lemon
You need to squeeze three lemons and put the pure juice in a saucepan with two glasses of water. Put the saucepan in the preheated oven on 100 °C (212 °F). Evaporating water will make it easier to clean the oven. Turn off the oven, and keep the door open to cool it, then wipe off the dirt using a sponge and water with lemon juice. Lemon juice will leave your oven smelling lemon fresh.
Baking soda
Maybe the most effective and easiest way to clean your oven is preparing a dense bicarbonate paste by mixing baking
soda and water. Apply the paste on all surfaces of the oven and let it sit overnight. The next morning, use a rough sponge to remove the dirt and rinse with warm water.
Salt
There are two ways to clean the oven with salt. You can mix it with vinegar or baking soda. If you also want to eliminate bad odor then use the combination with vinegar. Mix water and vinegar in equal amounts, then spray the solution on preheated oven on 100 °C and add the salt on incrustations. Turn off the oven and let it sit for about 15 minutes and clean the oven with a rough sponge. Rinse with warm water. Vinegar will act as disinfectant and will eliminate any smell. The other solution is to use salt with baking soda, this formula is great for softening oven dirt and debris because of the abrasive properties of baking soda and salt. Mix 1 cup of salt, 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of water to form a paste. Apply the past on all internal surfaces of the oven and leave it for an hour. Remove the dirt with a damp cloth and rinse thoroughly with warm water.
